More Emergency Work in Bristol

Additional Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) sites that were the result of Hurricane Irene have been identified in Bristol, and agreements made for assistance. The two projects were identified as exigencies due to the severe erosion and potential future loss of life and/or property. The first is located at Memorial Boulevard and Downs Street, the second on Broad Street. Both sites, located adjacent to the Pequabuck River, require stream bank restoration, sediment removal, and debris removal. Because these projects are exigencies, the time period for completion is very short (typically 10 days).

NRCS provided the project design, as well as shared inspection coverage with the City of Bristol. Civil Engineer Dan DePietro and Construction Specialist Mike Rosado oversaw the projects from start to finish. These before and after photos tell the success story …
