NRCS Works to Help Keep Non-Native, Invasive Plants at Bay ...
Non-native, invasive organisms have been recognized by the Connecticut
Council on Environmental Quality as the second largest threat to Connecticut’s
natural habitats (second only to habitat loss caused by sprawling land
development). Non-native organisms invade forests, meadows, rivers, wetlands,
pastures, and croplands. These plants can cause environmental or economic harm,
or harm to human health.
Some programs implemented by NRCS provide technical and financial assistance
for land practices that can help control invasive plants. The Wildlife Habitat
Incentives Program supports invasive plant management projects on private lands.
NRCS offers workshops on invasive plant awareness, management and field
identification for towns, land trusts, and other interested groups.
