What is an Example of a Community Garden?NEW HAVEN, CT – The Second Annual Community Gardening Conference was held at Southern Connecticut State University and featured John Rowley, former site coordinator for the Interbay P-Patch Community Gardens in Seattle, Washington. Mr. Rowley spoke on building soil health with organic matter and building community spirit with community gardening. Eighteen concurrent sessions focused on issues such as composting, insect controls, funding school gardens, weeds, gardening in small spaces, food security, herbs, and low maintenance gardening. The conference included two bus tours – one to Common Ground High School (home of the New Haven Ecology Project), where participants viewed a small working farm with organic gardens and livestock. The other took participants to the New Haven Community Gardens and Greenspaces in the Newhallville and West Rock neighborhoods. Who are the Partners?
