Community Landscape Project Gets Attention
In conjunction with
their efforts to build community collaboration, NRCS in Connecticut is working
with the Town of Guilford on a full Community Landscape Analysis. Part of that
initiative includes finding out from the town’s residents just what places
they consider good, bad, and ugly.
The study is unique in the way it relies heavily on participation and input
from the town’s population. It will examine residents’ thoughts on what
places in town are the best and worst and their thoughts on how they want their
town to look as it grows.
The map was designed by NRCS to determine places of interest to Guilford
residents and to identify areas of concern. By completing the map, residents
will get a chance to express their views on the town’s character and shape its
look for the future.
The town and NRCS hope that at the completion of the study, they will have a
clear idea as to where residents want the town to go. It is expected to be
completed next year.
The NRCS-produced map, along with an article, appeared in the
May 15, 2003, issue of the Guilford Courier.
