Wetland EvaluationsWhat is the Focus? To provide local decision makers with simple, yet scientifically defensible, information on which to base wetland conservation and land use decisions. The Method for the Evaluation of Inland Wetlands in Connecticut (CT DEP Bulletin No. 9) is used to evaluate commonly recognized wetland functions. What Does NRCS Offer?Presentations, technical assistance, training. What is an Example of a Wetland Evaluation?ROCKY HILL, CT – This wetland evaluation study was done in response to a request for assistance from the Town of Rocky Hill. The Town Open Space and Conservation Commission was interested in having an inventory and evaluation study of the remaining wetlands within the town’s jurisdiction. The results from the study (written report, graphs, and tables) gave the town a better understanding of what functions and values are provided by the different wetlands under their jurisdiction, thus facilitating their decision making process. The report also identified land use trends and significant natural habitats, which has been helpful in the planning of open space.
